Mr. Edwin Vanderbruggen

Edwin has 21 years of experience as a legal advisor, academic, author and government consultant. He has worked in Southeast Asia for 16 years, and has five years of experience in Myanmar legal and tax issues. He has lived full-time in Yangon since March 2012. He is foreign counsel to the Government of the Union of Myanmar on a series of privatizations of SOEs. In addition, he has provided advice and training to Government agencies in a number of Southeast Asian countries and for the World Bank and ADB, including the Myanmar Ministries of Energy, Commerce, Communications and Information Technology and Finance. In his academic career, he has lectured at six prestigious universities in Europe and Asia, and written seven textbooks and over 40 scholarly articles, some of which have won scientific awards. He has won recognition for his outstanding practice in Myanmar, including “Leading International Advisor”, “M&A Lawyer of the Year” and awarded as “IFLR Leading lawyer”. Edwin holds a bachelor of laws, LL.B (Licenciaat in de Rechtsgeleerdheid) University of Antwerp, Belgium and a master of laws, LL.M (Bijizonder Licenciaat in Bedrijfsrecht en Fiscaal Recht) Free University of Brussels, Belgium.
