Ms. Catherina Cader

Catherina Cader is an expert in geographical information systems (GIS) and works at Reiner Lemoine Institut (RLI), in Berlin, Germany. She holds university degrees in Environmental Management and Geography. She worked as a researcher from 2009 to 2010 at the University in Giessen conducting research for data, data compilation and environmental management. In 2011 she joined the RLI and acquired deep knowledge of planning structures and challenges of rural and remote regions by developing and applying GIS-based methodologies for sustainable electrification planning in developing countries. With her work she aims at strengthening the knowledge of potentials and usage of renewable energies and analyses different electrification pathways critically. During field missions to Myanmar, Nigeria and Tanzania and by performing practical trainings in GIS capacities
she experienced insightful stakeholder discussions leading to a better understanding of local energy access situations and infrastructure development.
